Avaya 9600 Telephone Quick Reference Guide
Answer and Making a call
Making an outside call:
- Dial 9
- You will now hear dial tone and be able to dial out.
Making an internal call:
- Dial the extension of the person who you are trying to reach.
Parking and retreiving a call.
- While on an active call press PARK 1 or PARK 2. The caller is now holding.
- To pick up a pick up a parked call, press the park button that is blinking and press CONNECT.
To end a call:
- Hang-up the handset if using the handset.
- Press DROP or SPEAKER button if using speaker.
Using Your Voice Mail
Recording your greeting:
- Press the MESSAGE button.
- Scroll down to GREETING and press SELECT.
- Press RECORD.
Checking messages:
- Press the MESSAGE button.
- Scroll to LISTEN and press SELECT.
- Scroll to NEW, OLD or SAVED and press SELECT.
- Scroll to the message that you want to listen to and press PLAY.
Transferring a message to another users mailbox:
- While listening to the message press MORE.
- Press COPY.
- Press RECORD if you would like to record an introductory message.
- Press SEND TO.
- Dial the extension or use the DIRECTORY to search by name.
- Press ADD.
- Add additional extensions to receive the message or press SEND.
Conference Calls
Starting a conference call:
- Press CONF while the call is active.
- Dial the number of the next party. (Internal or External)
- Press CONF to add the new party to the call.
- Repeat steps above to add further participants. (Up to 32)
Dropping or Muting Parties in a Conference:
- While on a conference call press DETAILS.
- Scroll to the party that you want to drop.
- Press DROP or MUTE.
Exiting a Conference Call and Leaving the Others Connected:
- While on a conference call press CONF and hang-up.
- To re-enter the conference, press your blinking appearance button.
Transferring a Call
Transferring a Call to Another Extension:
- Press TRANSFER while the call is active.
- Dial the extension you want to transfer the call to.
- When ready to complete the transfer, press TRANSFER again.
Transferring a Call to an Outside Number:
- Press TRANSFER while the call is active.
- Dial 9 and the number that you want to transfer the caller to.
- When ready to complete the transfer, press TRANSFER.
Transferring a Call to a User's Mailbox:
- While on an active call, press MESSAGE.
- Dial the user’s extension number who should receive the message.
- Press SELECT.
Extras
Forwarding Your Extension:
- Press the CALL FORWARD button on your phone.
- Now dial the extension number, or dial 9 and an outside phone number.
- Press DONE.
Cancelling Call Forwarding:
- Press the CALL FORWARD button.
- The green light will go off and forwarding is now cancelled.
Adding a Contact:
- Press CONTACTS.
- Dial the person’s name who you are trying to reach.
- Press CALL.
Using the Contacts Button:
- Press CONTACTS.Press NEW.
- Enter the name, then press the down arrow.
- Enter the number, starting with a 9.
- Press SAVE.
